Our PHECC CFR Instructor training course is designed to follow the national standards for Cardiac First Response Community Instructors laid down by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC). This 2-day course aims to bring students up to CFR Community Instructor standard which will enable them to provide CFR Community training courses.
*You MUST provide evidence of the above two weeks prior to attending to prove your eligibility to sit the course.
The CFR Instructor Standard includes tuition in instructional methods and a period of supervised teaching practice. The initial CFR Instructor course is of 2 days duration.
We would advise that the time period between the 2 day course and the Instructor final assessment (F3) is approximately 3 months. This allows time for students to get their A1 & S2’s completed before being eligible to go forward for their final assessment.
In order to become certified as a PHECC CFR Community Instructor there are three additional processes that need to be completed. You must assist on two CFR courses before being finally assessed by The Cpl Institute. We will try to assist you in finding a course for you to complete your A1 & S2 requirements, however it is the learners’ responsibility to try and organise these.
In order to progress to the final assessment with The Cpl Institute you are required to undertake supervised teaching practice. This consists of:
The period of supervised teaching practice is not specified and may be extended until the specific learning outcomes are achieved.
On your final assessment you will need your own equipment. The exact requirements will be communicated to you on receipt of your completed A1 and S2 documentation.
If you wish to complete your supervised training with another provider/instructor we would need the below information before completion of the teaching practice:
The ratio of CFR instructor trainers to students is 1:6 and equipment to student ratio of 1:3 (equipment includes manikin and AED).
Should learners have difficulty reaching the PHECC CFR Community Instructor standard they will be supported with remediation efforts.
Individuals who successfully complete the 2-day CFR instructor course plus the additional supervised teaching practice and evaluation will be certified as a PHECC CFR Community Instructor.
CFR Instructor certification is valid for 2 years. It is the responsibility of every instructor to recertify before their certificate lapses. The Cpl Institute may allow a short grace period but it is restricted to extenuating circumstances and considered on a case-by-case basis.
Add to your personal skill set and add more value to your company by becoming a CFR Instructor with The Cpl Institute.
