Our online Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Awareness course is a 25 minute course that considers the role of personal protective equipment within a safe system of work. It explains the importance of considering other measures further up the hierarchy of controls (elimination of hazards, reduction of risk, collective protection etc) before resorting to PPE.
The online PPE course explains different types of PPE, and how and when to use them. Common workplace signs used to indicate PPE must be worn are illustrated and recognition of those signs is tested within the course. The benefits and limitations of PPE are discussed. The responsibilities of employers to select, maintain and replace PPE are covered, along with the users’ responsibilities to follow instructions and training on usage, storage and care of PPE.
On successful completion of this programme, learners will gain a certificate of completion in Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Awareness.

- To identify typical examples of PPE and recognise the safety signs that specify their use.
- To understand the importance of correctly using, maintaining and storing PPE.
