PHECC CFR Instructor Re-certification

As a Cardiac First Response Instructor you must complete re-certification training every 2 years. This highly practical session will include:

  • A review and assessment of CPR & related skills
  • An explanation of all current CFR CPG’s
  • A scenario based assessment of an unresponsive simulated patient and delivery of one shock
  • A review of AED safety measures
  • A review of indications for AED use
  • A review of indications for aspirin administration
  • A review and assessment of instructional techniques
  • A review of learning points arising from the group’s experiences of CPR and AED use, aspirin administration and interaction with cardiac

Our courses are designed to work best with small groups for maximum participation. Practical methods will be used to involve instructors through discussion, case study and practical scenarios.

It is our belief at The Cpl Institute, that people learn more when they are involved. We therefore will encourage each instructor to define their specific requirements and then design the course content where possible to address their needs.

What’s the assessment schedule?

Each instructor will be assessed in two areas’. Firstly, they’ll be assessed in their CPR skills and knowledge using the PHECC skill-sheets and the CFR Instructor MCQ. Then they’ll be assessed on their instructional methods by being asked to teach a small portion of the CFR course as part  of the day.

How many will be in the class?

To ensure maximum participation and to enable each instructor gain the most out of the day, we are adopting the ratio of a maximum of 6 trainees per course.

What do I need to provide before the course?

As an instructor and to conform with the PHECC Education & Training Standards, you’ll need to send us the following prior to your course:

  • Copy of your CFR Instructor Certificate
  • Proof of your 4 courses
