Become a PHECC Cardiac First Responder Instructor

Our Cardiac First Responder Instructor training course is designed to follow the national standards for CFR Instructors Laid down by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC). All of our tutors for this course are recognized to teach and carry out examinations to set standards.

It will ensure demonstrable competency in the practical conduct of CFR Courses. The ‘training for trainers’ section of this course will enable delegates to deliver training which is specifically tailored to the standards laid down by PHECC.

Course Aims

This 2-day course aims to bring students up to CFR Instructor Standard which will enable them to provide CFR training courses.


 Students must present a valid QQI Occupational First Aid Certificate or a Phecc CFR Certificate to be eligible to attend the course.

PHECC CFR Assessment

To complete the PHECC CFR Instructor Assessment, students will be required to assist on one CFR course, be supervised on the 2nd CFR course and be assessed by or on behalf of PHECC on the 3rd course.

Session Three

  • Critical Incident Stress Management
  • Administration of Oxygen using a BVM

Session Four

  • Clinical Indemnity
  • Infection Prevention & Control
  • Team Concept
  • Handover & Documentation


Successful students will receive a certificate qualifying them for two years as an Cardiac First Responder Instructors from PHECC.
